The challenge

The Kampot Tourism Port was designed to boost economic growth, enhance regional tourism, and improve Cambodia’s connectivity within the ASEAN region. However, since its inception in 2014, shifts in tourism trends, the impact of COVID-19, and evolving investor expectations have raised questions about its long-term viability.

To secure its future, the port required updated feasibility studies, a clear governance framework, and a structured Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement for operations and maintenance.

Ensuring its success would support Cambodia’s broader goals of enhancing tourism infrastructure and positioning Kampot as a key player in ASEAN’s maritime economy.
